I was able to get in both spin class and a 4 mile
run last Monday, although I swear the treadmill had me running downhill the
entire time! I was actually kind of sore through Wednesday because of it.
Tuesday I ended up having to work pretty late and
so I took a rest day.
Wednesday was a weird day – Tuesday night I had
only gotten about 3 hours of sleep so I wound up leaving work at noon on
Wednesday and went home to sleep for about 4 hours. I still wasn’t feeling up
to par come workout time and I was still quite sore from Monday so I took
another rest day.
Thursday I had a super speedy run! This was a good
run for me because I really didn’t want to get out and run at all but I forced
myself to run and even went a different route around my church to mix it up a
bit. Well about 1.2 miles in I’m running across the street from a house where
there is a little girl screaming and crying and asking for someone to help! So I
of course run across the street to check on her. She looked about 5 and from
what I could gather her mom had left to get her brother, she was in the shower
and then all of a sudden the alarm at their house started going off. Long story
short the mom was back within about 3 minutes and I just stayed with the girl
on the front porch trying to keep her calm. This had happened to me as a child
and terrified me so I felt bad for her. The mom was super thankful that I had
stayed and I felt good to be able to help. The rest of my run was amazing and I
was so glad I went out to run.
On Friday I had to be at the church again so I
decided to make up some miles that I had missed Wednesday night and do another
3.5. I ran into a friend from church who was also heading out to do 2 miles and
she told me she would join me. I was so glad to have her company and we ended
up doing another sub-9:50 paced run! I was super stoked.
Sunday was also an odd day – I knew I was running
7 with Rachel later in the afternoon but I needed 15 for the day so I got up
before church and headed out for 8 miles. This was a struggle for me but oddly
enough I ended up with a strong pace and the last 2.5 miles were great.
Later that afternoon Rachel, her friend, Alex and
I headed out to a park after lunch to get 7 miles in. We did a 6:1 and then
eventually 10:1 and the miles just flew by for me. I always love running with
my sister and it was nice to have Alex along to (side note: this was the first
time he has run since the Dallas Marathon!)
Over all it was a very busy week but a good week
for running!
Here’s what this next week will hopefully look
like:

Way to be so adaptable!
Sweet story about you waiting with the little girl.
Have fun with the Austin half. I have a good friend running the marathon.
