The One With Land Of Oz Training {Week 8}

I will keep this short and sweet today; but here is what this past week of workouts looked like:
Week 7 (Feb 4-10)
4 miles + Spin

Done
BodyPump

Off –worked late
5 miles + hills

Off
3 miles

3.5 miles
Off

3.5 miles
Off

Done
15 miles (7 with Rach)

Done
27+ miles

I was able to get in both spin class and a 4 mile run last Monday, although I swear the treadmill had me running downhill the entire time! I was actually kind of sore through Wednesday because of it.

Tuesday I ended up having to work pretty late and so I took a rest day.

Wednesday was a weird day – Tuesday night I had only gotten about 3 hours of sleep so I wound up leaving work at noon on Wednesday and went home to sleep for about 4 hours. I still wasn’t feeling up to par come workout time and I was still quite sore from Monday so I took another rest day.

Thursday I had a super speedy run! This was a good run for me because I really didn’t want to get out and run at all but I forced myself to run and even went a different route around my church to mix it up a bit. Well about 1.2 miles in I’m running across the street from a house where there is a little girl screaming and crying and asking for someone to help! So I of course run across the street to check on her. She looked about 5 and from what I could gather her mom had left to get her brother, she was in the shower and then all of a sudden the alarm at their house started going off. Long story short the mom was back within about 3 minutes and I just stayed with the girl on the front porch trying to keep her calm. This had happened to me as a child and terrified me so I felt bad for her. The mom was super thankful that I had stayed and I felt good to be able to help. The rest of my run was amazing and I was so glad I went out to run.

On Friday I had to be at the church again so I decided to make up some miles that I had missed Wednesday night and do another 3.5. I ran into a friend from church who was also heading out to do 2 miles and she told me she would join me. I was so glad to have her company and we ended up doing another sub-9:50 paced run! I was super stoked.

Sunday was also an odd day – I knew I was running 7 with Rachel later in the afternoon but I needed 15 for the day so I got up before church and headed out for 8 miles. This was a struggle for me but oddly enough I ended up with a strong pace and the last 2.5 miles were great.

Later that afternoon Rachel, her friend, Alex and I headed out to a park after lunch to get 7 miles in. We did a 6:1 and then eventually 10:1 and the miles just flew by for me. I always love running with my sister and it was nice to have Alex along to (side note: this was the first time he has run since the Dallas Marathon!)

Over all it was a very busy week but a good week for running!

Here’s what this next week will hopefully look like:

Week 8 (Feb 11-17)
Off
BodyPump + 3 miles
5 miles
3 miles + yoga
Off
3 miles
Austin Half Marathon
27+ miles

This next week starts 3 weekends in a row of half marathons for me that I’m super excited about!

Way to be so adaptable!
Sweet story about you waiting with the little girl.
Have fun with the Austin half. I have a good friend running the marathon.
