The One Where I Went Running At 4:30 In The Morning (My Weekly Workout Posts & Link-Up)

This week my workouts were a bit crazy….
Week 13 (Sept 24-30)
3 miles

3.75
Body pump + yoga

Off
5 pace

Off
4 miles easy

6.4 miles
Off

done
16 miles

15 miles
Elliptical

Walked dogs 1.75 miles + at home workout
26.5 miles

On Monday I actually found the strength to get out and do almost 4 miles. I was only going to do 3 but I took a wrong turn and ended up with 3.75 miles for the night. It felt good that I was able to get that done post race (which you can read about here if you missed it)

Tuesday, well Tuesday I skipped my planned workout and took a rest day to spend some time with Alex, I felt really guilty about it too but that’s something I’m going to work on.

Wednesday, yea that also didn’t happen. I don’t want to talk about that.

Thursday I got in a great 6.4 mile run which was exactly what I needed. The weather was nice and I thoroughly enjoyed every step of this run.

Friday was a PLANNED rest day.

Then Saturday I was extra crazy and due to a scheduling conflict I had to get up at 4 am so that I could be running by 4:30 am. I had 16 miles to do and needed to be done by 7:30 so I could leave my house by 8, phew, even that makes me tired, let alone the actual running of the 16 miles. Anyways, I only got 15 miles in because I wasn't keeping the pace I had hoped for. I was a little slower than I thought I would be and then at mile 11 I had some stomach issues and had to stop and make a detour to the bathrooms, thankfully one was close but that still took a few minutes off my time. I finished 15 miles in 3:04 for the day and I definitely would have gotten my 16 in if only I had had an extra 10-12 minutes to spare, but I was already pushing it!

Sunday instead of the elliptical I took my dogs out for a 1.75 mile walk since the weather was so nice and then I did an at home workout:
3 sets for time of
25 squats
15 tricep dips
20 alternating lunges
15 manly pushups
25 crunches
I finished 3 circuits in 13:44.

Here’s what’s on the agenda this week for workouts:
Week 14 (Oct 1-7)
Off
Body pump + yoga
Hills
6 pace
Elliptical
10 miles + walk at State Fair all day
Off
24 miles

I’m currently training for the Dallas Marathon on December 9th and this is week 14 of a 23 week plan that I am following. You can find the plan in its entirety on my Unlikely Training Page and just know that sometimes I modify a few things from week to week. For example tonight I would usually run, I love my Monday night runs, it helps me get in the groove for the week, but I am going to an event with my mom and sister tonight so I doubt I will get a workout in. If it doesn't go late I may hit up the gym but I’m going to go ahead and say it probably won’t happen.

I also want to mention that I finished off September with 95 miles of running!! That’s the most miles I've ever logged in a single month!

I hope you all have a great day and go link up your weekly workouts!

95 miles in one month is baller! Congrats! Looks like your training is right on track. The Dallas Marathon has a special place in my heart. (Back when it was the DWRM in 2010, it was my first full. And I walked the half last year with my mom.) I'm bummed that I won't get to do it this year. I'm kind of curious about the route changes. I'm excited to follow your training!*

You did awesome! Congrats on hitting 95 miles in September! That's crazy!! I think I'll get up that high maybe December? You're doing so well! I feel like you're ahead of your training schedule. And that's pretty dedicated to get up at 4:30 to run what you know you wouldn't get in otherwise. I feel like not everyone would have been that dedicated. Nice job!!

Look at you all early morning and such...good job on that! I have trouble with mornings but will be my only option considering I am home so late after work...keep it up!

Wow. Way to be on the 4am run. I think I could only do that if I went to bed at like 7pm the night before. haha!

Great job with the high mileage September. You'll be hitting triple digits in October probably.
