So I most definitely have a whole weekends worth to catch up on, as well as lots of work to catch up on….
I enjoyed a wonderfully full 5 day vacation with 4 days of workouts and too many unnecessary calories to count, but hey, I’m not counting! I would just like to go on record and say that I am very proud of myself for sticking to my workouts, even with so many activities. I even had my first ever double-run day on Saturday. But first things first….
Friday I got off work a little early and proceeded to spend half my paycheck since it was payday (ok, not totally, but I did sign up for another race! Details to come – this is a very special one to me!!!). Then mom and I hit the gym! She recently joined this place right across the street called Anytime Fitness and they let me come with her the first time so I could show her a few workouts and the machines. I really liked the place; it was small but a great place that was super close and I loved being able to go with mom. Is it too ridiculous to have 3 gym memberships? Just curious.
|sorry for the blurry mess, I think there was too much sweat!|
Mom did some cardio and then a circuit workout on the machines. I did this circuit workout:
§ Ball Chest Press 15+ reps
§ Ball Chest Fly’s 15+ reps
§ Ball superman’s 15+ reps
§ Torso Twists 20 reps
§ Plank Mogul 20 reps
*repeat the whole cycle 4 times
And then 30 minutes on the elliptical. I was pretty tired after that but went home and took a shower and waited for my sister and her friends to get in town. They got in pretty late but we still went out anyways, probably not my best idea but I have to maximize my youngness and the time I get to spend with her. That being said, Saturday morning came way too early!
After 3 hours of sleep, I’m not sure how I was able to hear my 5:30 alarm, but I did and met Michelle to do 4 miles with her. We were both running a little bit late so 4 miles became 3.2 miles in 40 minutes, not too shabby! I wore my knee strap today (I finally remembered!) and I had minimal knee pain, yay! However, the side cramps were not fun, damn you dehydration! I made it through part 1 of my 2 part running!
On the way to meet Sophie I drank some water and Gatorade and had half of a protein cookie and a few Swedish fish for some fuel.
By the time I got her and met Dad and Denise 45 minutes had passed and I was starting to feel tight. We had a 4:1 for 45 minutes plan and lots of sunny trials ahead of us. So off we went, too fast, thanks Dad! Denise, Sophie and I hung back at a normal person pace and trudged along as the sun beat down on us. As painful as the heat and sun were and as tired and dehydrated as I was this was one of the most fun runs I have EVER had. I felt like dying (my look of death in my pictures does not lie) but the company, the conversation and the day was so wonderful, I can’t explain it. I love running with my friends, I really do, but running with my family is just so much more amazing! I feel so blessed that I was able to share that with them. We finished up with 3.5 miles in 45 minutes!
|I know I sweat a lot, but I did run through a sprinkler, hence the excessive moisture.|
So as a grand total I came away with 6.7 miles in 85 minutes, not exactly the 8 I had planned but I am satisfied with that. We went back and iced by the pool and cooled off with a swim. Um, hello most brilliant idea ever, I will be doing this for all of my long runs in the summer time!
If you are still reading this, thank you, I greatly appreciate that!
Later Saturday night was spent at the Ranger’s game with my sister and her friends, why I do not have any pictures, I have no idea!
On Sunday, I took the day off. My legs were tired and my body sore from the weights I had done Friday night. I had spent the night at Nanna’s with my sister and so we got up and had egg casserole that Nanna had made (best thing ever, in case you were wondering) and then went to the special service my Church was having to honor the Service Men and Women. I love my church, and am therefore slightly biased, but I think they did a great job of truly honoring all those that have served our country. I always get goose bumps and choked up over things like that. I have had members of my family serve our country, but I have never been personally affected by the sacrifices those people make every day and it is so overwhelming to think that there are people who spend their lives defending our country so that I can live in freedom. It is truly an amazing blessing that I think too many of us take for granted.
After church my mom and I took my sister and her boyfriend to have In-N-Out burger. Then it was off to Arlington to have a cookout and pool party with my mom’s family. It’s always a whirlwind of people and activities and food, but again it is such a blessing to be able to share times like this with my family. And again, I managed to forget pictures. Seriously?!?
After all the excitement of the past two days I was so tired and went home and crashed. I then proceeded to sleep until 10am on Monday, whoa! I guess my body really needed the sleep. Nanna had lunch at her house with all of my Dad’s family and there was definitely no lack of entertainment.
I had to say goodbye to my sister. And then it was off to the gym for a quick 45 minute elliptical workout.
Monday night was spent at the Ranger’s game with Mom and Lisa. I love the Ranger’s fireworks shows!
Yesterday, I took the day off and spent the morning sleeping and just laying around being lazy. Then I decided I better get over to the gym and get my sweat on. I did this workout:
§ Total Package 20 reps
§ Bent Over Rows 15+ reps
§ Bent Over Kickbacks 15+ reps
§ Dead- lifts to calf-raise 15+ reps
§ Long-arm crunch 15+ reps
*repeat the whole cycle 4 times
And 50 minutes on the elliptical. I really worked out hard and it felt so good!!
Now, I’m back at work, attempting to not pull my hair out as I catch up on everything. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!
